V4

Offshore & Ocean Renewable Energy

Offshore wind, green hydrogen and ammonia, tidal and OTEC pilots anchored to coastal industrial clusters.

Why This Matters

Offshore & Ocean Energy

Offshore wind energy augmentation and Green hydrogen target both land on the same coastline, using the same ports, grid connections and marine spatial envelope. NIWE assesses around 70 GW of offshore wind potential off Gujarat and Tamil Nadu, yet installed offshore capacity is very minimal; the first 1 GW is being brought forward under a Rs. 7,453 crore viability gap funding scheme. Treating them as one vertical avoids the conflicts that would otherwise emerge project by project.

What We Promote

Priority Capabilities

01

Offshore wind site assessment, met-ocean modelling and O&M strategy

02

Green hydrogen and ammonia production sited at port and coastal clusters

03

Marine-side grid integration, cabling and seabed-use planning
